According to him, “after the service, I rushed
home only to see crowd of people in our
compound, thinking one of our aged mothers has
died but was shocked to see my own younger
brother, Pastor Chibuzor Ibekwe in his own pool
of blood in our parlour. The assassins tied his
hands and strangled him to death”. Mr. Ibekwe
who has to stop speaking to fight back tears
maintained that, his younger brother has never
been involved in politics and hardly offends
people, everybody in our community loved him
because of his uprightness and kindness. I
immediately alerted the Police at Ahiazu Mbaise.
We are yet to know the rational behind the
painful murder of my younger brother. What is
the sin of the Pastor, that made them kill him
like a goat? The people that killed him also
broke into his rooms and removed all his C of O
and other valuable documents including a
laptop”.
Pastor Chibuzor Ibekwe who owns a big fish pond
in his community until his death was the Pastor
in-charge of Winners’ Chapel Emekuku before he
was transferred to Ahiazu Mbaise Parish. As at
the time of going to press, the remains of
Pastor Chibuzor Ibekwe has been deposited at
Holy Rosary Hospital Morgue Ogbor, Nguru Aboh
Mbaise by the Ahiazu Mbaise Police Division. As
Police officers D2 State Police Force
Headquarters are investigating the case.
Meanwhile, the Imo Police Command has commenced
full-scale investigation into the killing of
Pastor Chibuzor Ibekwe. The Police Public
Relations Officer, Mr. Linus Nwaiwu, told
newsmen that the Police have spread its dragnet
to apprehend those behind the killing. He said
no arrest has been made but assured the command
has commenced full investigation into the
murder, describing it as “senseless killing”.
In a related development, evil men raided the
residence of Bishop Justus Mogekwu of the
Anglican Church Headquarters in Asaba on Monday,
carted away N800,000 and other valuables.
Mogekwu, narrated the incident to the News
Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba, saying he also
lost his Episcopal ring, wedding ring, two
laptops and other valuables. He said four
bandits broke into his bedroom at about 1:am and
ordered everybody in the house to lie down. The
cleric said, “total cash taken was about
N800,000, including that of my wife and the
woman living with us”. The most valuable item
removed was my Episcopal ring.”
When contacted, Mr. Charles Muka, the Public
Relations Officer of the state’s Police command,
confirmed the receipt of a signal on the
incident, and however said as at Wednesday, no
arrest had been made.
