The
Niger Delta militants, who also threatened to
resume attacks on oil facilities in the region
if Jonathan is not sworn in as Acting President,
said it has dispatched observers to the nation’s
capital, Abuja and Lagos to “monitor the
activities of the Judiciary and National
Assembly and report back.”
In a communiqué released at the end of its
meeting in Yenagoa and signed by the
coordinator, Nengi James and secretary
communiqué drafting committee, Kofi Kelvin
Moses, the militants commended the role of
persons and groups like Prof. Wole Soyinka, Femi
Falana, Chief Edwin Clark, the Ohaneze Ndigbo,
South West leaders forum and the Northern Union
led by Olusola Saraki in the political problems
facing the nation, and warned that non adherence
the advice by expatriates in the country may be
deadly.
It would be recalled that the President traveled
to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment in
November last year without transferring
authority to the Vice President, a situation
that has led to power vacuum which is
threatening governance in the country.
