Imo:  Police Arrest 12 For Arson


 

According to the Commissioner, about fifty houses were burnt by yet to be identified assailants at Akano Umuapu Ohaji.


The commissioner of police, Mr. Okorie felt very sad to see the destruction of that magnitude in a village where majority are subsistent farmers.
He warned that people should not in any way, no matter the level of provocation take laws into their hands, but should always allow the law to take its course whenever they felt aggrieved.


Mr. Okorie promised that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the matter to determine the actual cause of the crisis and also fish out all those behind the ugly act. He said that the arrested persons would soon appear in court after police must have concluded its investigations.
The Commissioner said that he has directed police patrol teams to be patrolling the area to ensure that there was no further destruction of property.


Imo Police Boss assured that the Command will do everything within the ambits of the law to ensure adequate security of lives and property in the State.
He said with the presence of the police now in the area normalcy has returned and urged the people of Akano Umuapu to return to their homes and live their normal life.
